VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Sept. 10, 2007 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has made two appointments at AMSEC LLC. AMSEC, a full-service provider of engineering, logistics and technical support services, is a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman’s Newport News sector.
Mike Helpinstill was promoted to chief financial officer for AMSEC. He is responsible for directing the company's financial strategy and processes in support of business growth and profitability goals. He also has responsibility for AMSEC’s business management functions, such as contracts, estimating and pricing, accounting, financial reporting, planning and analysis, purchasing, rates and budgets, and program cost control.
Prior to his promotion, Helpinstill served as business manager for Northrop Grumman Newport News’ aircraft carrier construction, refueling and overhaul programs. He joined Newport News in 1996 and has worked in positions of increasing responsibility in investor relations, financial planning, capital budgeting, labor resource planning and material and overhead cost management functions. Helpinstill resides in York County, Va. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bucknell University and a master’s of business administration from the University of Virginia.Billy Jahn was promoted to controller for AMSEC. He is responsible for directing and controlling the company’s financial operations and accounting practices, including management of financial, cost, and governmental accounting functions. He also has responsibility for general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll, and ensuring compliance with internal control practices and company policies and procedures. Jahn has more than 22 years of experience in finance, accounting,
contracts, human resources and information technology. He joined AMSEC in 2002 and most recently served as director of information technology. Before joining AMSEC he served as vice president for finance and accounting for the communications engineering group at Titan Systems and vice president for finance and administration for Advanced Communication Systems.Jahn earned both a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s of business administration from Old Dominion University. These appointments follow the successful restructuring of the Northrop Grumman and Science Applications International Corporation [NYSE: SAI] joint venture, AMSEC LLC, which divided
the company along customer and product lines.
