January 6, 2010: Please join me in welcoming Jerry McKernan to AMSEC. Jerry will be part of the Logistics and Engineering Services (L&ES) Team working in the Philadelphia, PA office.
Jerry’s first day with AMSEC will be on January 18th. Jerry recently left Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) where he was the Program Manager for U.S. Navy Acquisition Logistics Shipbuilding Programs. Prior to LCE, Jerry retired from NAVSSES Philadelphia after a 30-year career as the Code 94 Branch Head for Logistics Technical Documentation.
Jerry has over thirty years of progressively increasing levels of responsibility managing engineering projects involving the design, maintenance, operation and testing of U.S. Navy shipboard HM&E equipment, secondary nuclear propulsion, and combat systems. More than twenty years of his experience has been spent at the management level. His extensive experience in Integrated Logistics Support includes over twenty-three years managing the NAVSEA HM&E Technical Manual program which included all aspects of NAVSEA Technical Manual Deficiency Evaluation Report (TMDER) program; managing the NAVSEA Technical Data Repository (CONTENT@) as well as the editing software required to develop, edit and distribute interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) that are ATIS compatible; and managing the CV/CVN Weapons Elevator Technical Manual Improvement Program.
While at LCE, Jerry served as the ILS Program Manager for NAVSEA Philadelphia Acquisition Logistics Support including Technical Manuals; PMS; EOSS; PTD; Configuration Management; DMSMS; and Training. His efforts including support of the following ship classes; LHD8, LHA6, LHA7,CVN77, CVN78, SSC (new LCAC), LCAC SLEP, LCU, LPD17, CGX, JHSV, and DDG1000.
While at NAVSSES, Jerry’s efforts help pioneer efforts in managing the development of and integrating the use of automated TM editing tools into NSWCCD Philadelphia and NAVSEA’s TM programs for acquisition and in-service ships. He was a co-winner of the Grace Hopper Award for his efforts in support of the development of the Technical Data Knowledge Management (TDKM) system.
