Full-Service Logistic Capability at Platform,

Component Levels

Logistics Engineering and Maintenance

At AMSEC LLC, our team of design and logistics engineers face the challenge of designing affordability, supportability, safety, reliability, and committed to integrating logistics support into customer design, development, and life-cycle support ("cradle-to-grave" logistics services) efforts to maximize availability and minimize overall support cost. Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) Analysis & Modeling.  We improve product (and production) success by tailoring and integrating RMA analyses with customer efforts.   Mathematical models and computer simulations are developed to help predict overall system performance.  Properly implemented, this process increases operational availability, reduces down time, lowers maintenance costs, enhances personnel safety, optimizes equipment operational performance, identifies need for or against equipment redundancy, and improves customer confidence.

Our goal is to complement design engineering or product production to provide a product having a higher reliability with lower maintenance that can be realized by the customer. To achieve this goal we:
  • Control the RMA integration process
  • Interject RMA system quantitative and qualitative requirements
  • Conduct RMA trade-off analyses to support design alternative evaluation
  • Develop RMA models to project in service performance

RMA modeling is performed using various widely accepted commercial and government computer program. These models allow us to project system performance, influence the design process, and identify RMA critical items as early as possible, thus reducing any potential impact on the products critical path. The RMA methodology employed provides full tractability so that customers can have confidence in the analysis output and recommendations.

Life Cycle Cost Analysis

To control total cost of ownership and optimize performance and schedule requirements, AMSEC LLC employs sound Cost As an Independent Variable (CAIV) methodologies and statistical techniques to when projecting the Life Cycle Cost (LCC) of your equipment, system, platform, or ship.  Based on decades of experience, we can develop the LCC baseline(s) and recommend ways to reduce it to achieve credible Return-On-Investment figures.  We use latest, excepted commercial and DOD computer programs to help us run largest, most complex LCC simulations all the way down to simply performing LCC analysis on a single component.

Our LCC Team has successfully identified high maintenance cost components / practices and labor / time intensive processes that were caught well before they became serious cost issues in later design / production phases.  We recommend practical technology insertion for potentially high payback areas. Our goal is to focus towards minimizing or eliminating the impact of these cost drivers early in the program when maximum benefit can be realized from redesign and equipment selection or modification.

Reliability Centered Maintenance

Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is a systematic method for developing and selecting maintenance requirements and design alternatives based on maintaining system functionality. RCM takes into account operational, safety and economic considerations. RCM principles include:
  • Maintenance is a preserving function
  • Systems are as reliable as the least reliable component
  • Maintenance is performed only when system degrades to unacceptable performance levels and then only to return to normal performance
  • Effective maintenance program is 80% preventive-20% reactive
  • Most failures are not age dependent; they are maintenance dependent.

The AMSEC LLC team increases the product Operational Availability (Ao) by reducing preventative maintenance down time.

Maintenance Planning

The AMSEC LLC team understands that the maintenance concept for a product is the foundation for all maintenance planning efforts and has influences the design process. The team understands that operational and environmental conditions and constraints impact system maintainability and performance effectiveness.

Our comprehensive maintenance planning skills result from practical, hands-on experience. We influence the design process, to incorporate, where practical, built-in test equipment, diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair features. We provide complete line of maintenance planning products for both DOD and Commercial assets. The product line includes:

  • Integrated Maintenance & Performance Systems
  • Maintenance Plans, Schedules and Procedures
    • Reliability Centered Maintenance Techniques
    • Maintenance Standards & Work Packages
    • Maintenance Monitoring
  • Maintenance Analysis Automation

Instructor-Lead and Computer-Based Training

Training encompasses a variety of different development and delivery platforms. These platforms include:

  • Basic familiarization lectures for pre-commissioning crews
  • Sophisticated computer based training applications
  • WEB based training applications

AMSEC LLC is currently utilizing an approach for just-in-time training for sailors accomplishing complex/mission critical tasks on new and updated systems/equipment. The approach incorporates a computer management instruction (CMI) shell to manage and track student progress. This training approach is capable of being integrated with other logistic products and workload reduction projects presently being tested and implemented by the Navy.

Our staff includes training specialists and subject matter experts with extensive experience in delivering training in various types of media. One of our main concerns in the development of training is to ensure the training delivered meets the needs of our customer's students.  AMSEC's current training program efforts include:

  • Familiarization lectures for New construction CVN68 Class Aircraft Carriers
  • Hull Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) system training for SEAWOLF Class submarines
  • SEAWOLF Watchstation Qualification Computer Based training programs
  • SPAWAR communication system computer based operator and maintenance training
  • 688 Class Operator and Maintenance training and Life Cycle Support of training products
  • International training programs including Foreign Military Sales (FMS) support for transferred U.S. Navy ships and course development for Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding
