View AMSEC’s ISO 9001:2008 Certificate

AMSEC LLC’s Quality Management System (QMS) has been assessed by ABS Quality Evaluations Inc, an ANAB accredited Registrar, and found to be in conformance with the requirements set forth by ISO [1] 9001:2008, an internationally recognized standard. ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a quality management system, which is the organization's structure for managing its business processes - or activities - that transform inputs into products or services which meet the organization's objectives, such as satisfying the customer's quality requirements, complying with regulations, or continually improving its performance.

The U.S. Navy, AMSEC LLC’s largest customer, with the promulgation of Standard Item 009-04 – Quality Management Systems in 2005, required at a minimum that contractors have in place a Quality Management System that complies with ISO 9001:2000 prior to receiving a job order. AMSEC LLC, in 1998, made a business decision to seek certification to ISO for two primary reasons: improving internal processes and, in so doing, strengthening the QMS, and providing a discriminator from competitors, the majority of whom at that time did not have a QMS certified by a third party auditor as compliant with ISO, nor were they required to do so.

In the intervening years since our initial ISO certification in 1999, AMSEC LLC has expanded through the acquisition of companies who not only complemented the technical service offerings to customers but also shared similar quality philosophies. Several acquisitions were previously ISO certified while others who were not have been added to the ISO Certificate over the years such that the overwhelming majority of the company is now covered by the ISO certificate. Robust documentation and all-inclusive measurement are distinctive elements of AMSEC LLC’s present QMS that emphasizes close interaction with the customer at many levels.

Today, the playing field has changed for Navy contractors like AMSEC LLC. Standard Item 009-04 brought with it auditing of contractor’s QMS by multiple entities: government representatives in various geographic locations, mutual self-auditing by contractor organizations, and third party auditing by accreditation bodies for those who have pursued ISO certification. The net effect of this increased scrutiny is the delivery of higher quality AMSEC LLC products and services at lower cost to a discerning customer in a very competitive marketplace. Our focus on ISO and the QMS has facilitated the growth of the “quality culture” in AMSEC LLC employees, both line and staff, who are an integral element of continuous improvement by virtue of their contributions to the refinement of internal processes.
